If you know me you know that I don’t identify as a Democrat or a Republican. I refer to myself as a Humanist. In a nutshell I am concerned with the welfare of all of mankind. It’s too bad that we have allowed party affiliations consume our lives.

This morning I listened to the 6th and final episode of Southlake. I wish I could report that there was a happy ending but alas it was not to be. Conservatism won the day. I’m wondering if I’m the only person who interprets the rights use of the word conservatism as racism in disguise. Now I’m sure that many of those that label themselves conservative are taken aback by being called racist. However when you root for and support policies that disadvantage people who don’t fit into your racial construct of preference what else are you but a racist?

We’re on fire πŸ”₯ in this country and we appear to be totally oblivious. The situation is beyond dangerous, it’s explosive. The Democrats asked the people to give them the power so they could make change. Where is the change? The excuse is that the Republicans are being obstructionist. Did anyone seriously expect that they wouldn’t be? Right now the most important legislative initiative that we may well ever tackle is stuck in no man’s land. Voting Rights protection should have been done months ago. Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi along with Schumer needed to take a page out of the LBJ playbook. LBJ made it clear that if he had to burn some peoples houses down around them that the 1965 act was going to be approved. It was. Stop playing nice, get the job done.

Here’s the thing that the Democrats don’t seem to get. If voting rights and infrastructure die on the vine they will most certainly lose the support of massive numbers of black, brown, yellow and indigenous people. Without those people the party is politically dead. The Democrats can’t disappoint these people once again with promises of next time. It just won’t work.

McConnell and McCarthy are bullies. The only way to deal with bullies is to give them a big fat bloody nose. Sinema and Mnuchin have played the game long enough. Time to take them out to the woodshed. Call the filibuster what it is, bs and kill it. The founders never intended for the legislative branch to be gridlock by a recalcitrant minority.

We have a few months at best to save this country. If we fail to do so the long spiral into hell we be fully underway. Joe let go of your past and step into the light or be remembered as the guy who let it all go to he’ll in a hand basket. I needed to vent before I explode.

  1. Joe is asleep πŸ’€ at the Wheel and his Car is going off the Cliff with Polosi and Schumer trying to change the tire. At this point they’ve made it clear that we have no dog in the fight as usual.
