I am a sheepdog, always vigilant and situationally aware. Saturday when the networks called the election for Biden millions of people across the nation were elated. I get it, the last four years have been like being caught in a never ending nightmare. Most of us are ready to see these dark times come to an end.
Situational awareness can simply be defined as knowing what is going on around you. These remain dangerous times. Many Americans are prepared to claim victory while the enemy has not yet retreated from the field of battle. Trump is not going to leave the field of battle purely based on an election.
One of the things I learned from my time in the military was signal intelligence. Signals intelligence is intelligence-gathering by interception of signals, whether communications between people or from electronic signals not directly used in communication. Over the last three weeks there has been an abundance of signal intelligence to be analyzed. The rallies conducted by Trump leading up to the election were full of signal intelligence. The conspicuous absence of Mike Pompeo and Bill Barr was signal intelligence. Barr’s direction to federal prosecutors was signal intelligence. The resignation of the Federal prosecutor responsible for election fraud was signal intelligence. The termination of Mark Esper by tweet was signal intelligence. The replacement of Esperanto by Christopher C. Miller is signal intelligence. Any one of those things viewed in a vacuum could be easily dismissed. When viewed and analyzed collectively they represent a pattern that should be alarming to all of us.
71,000,000 million Americans voted for Donald Trump. Although President elect Biden wants to believe that we can reunite the country with his leadership the Trump machine is working overtime at creating an even deeper fabric in the fabric of the nation.
Mark Esper was dismissed because of his strong opposition to operational icing the insurrection act. The act as always been Trumps fall back to losing the election. He needs a Secretary of Defense who is willing to play ball with him. Thats why he bypassed the other military Secretary’s and elevated Christopher C. Miller. Never underestimate the lure of ambition.
I anticipate that in the near term we will see the pace of terminations increase. I fully expect that Chris Wray at the FBI and Gina Hassel at CIA will be taken out in this wave. As much as it pains me to say this I do not believe that the flag officers of the military can be counted on resist this attempt at overthrowing the will of the people.
If the courts entertain these frivolous suits launched by Trump the country will be in play. Keep your head on swivel and be situational aware.
