Someone asked a question that I feel compelled to respond to. The question was why am I critical of Joe Biden and some of the behaviors of the Democrat party. If someone things I’m critical of President Biden and the Democrats they clearly never read any of my writings on Trump and the Republicans.
I’m a citizen of the United States of America. I expect the people we elect to be leaders to lead with the best interest of the people in mind. I’m smart enough to know that I’m not going to get that from the Republican party in its current iteration. I listen to the promises coming from the Democrats and I simply expect them to deliver on those promises. When they don’t I’m not going to remain quiet or give them a pass.
Somewhere along our path far too many Americans stopped pay attention. They fell in love with a political party and forgot about the country. I don’t embrace the notion that the Democratic party walks on water. On the contrary it has its own warts.
I pay attention to history. If you asked the average Democrat who Henry A. Wallace was most people would be doing good to tell you that he was FDR’s second Vice President. Wallace became FDR’s running mate for his third term after FDR and his running mate for his first two terms, John Nance Garner parted ways.
Henry Wallace was a Republican turned Democrat who would later become a Progressive. Wallace would probably be described as an idealist. He believed in government for the people. Going into the1944 Democratic convention Wallace was opposed by southern conservative Democrats who saw Wallace as to Progressive. They were successful in replacing him with Harry Truman.
The point I am attempting to make is that the struggle for identity within the Democratic party is not new. It’s been going on for a very long time. The thing that as changed is the descent fascism by Republicans poses a fundamental threat to the nation. Democrats may be the last best chance for saving the country. The fundamental question before Democrats is what do they want to be? A Republican lite party or a party dedicated to true Democratic principles. Where the metal meets the road they can only serve one master. The clock is ticking and the informed are watching.
