The single largest threat that the United States faces is an ignorance of history and the arrogance that comes with it. In 1932 Germany faced political turmoil. That turmoil resulted in multiple elections in an effort to form a central government.
That turmoil led to Von Hindenberg appointing Hitler Chancellor in an effort to appease the Nazi party and Hitler. That proved to be a grave act which precipitated the destruction of Germany’s already shaky Authoritarian Democratic Republic.
This history is relevant to what we see unfolding at this very moment in our own country. Our election and its results have been under attack since midnight on November 3rd. From the very beginning the claim of election and voter fraud have been the province of just one party, the losing party. Not a single scintilla of credible evidence of election tampering or voter fraud as been produced. Credible voices on the opposition side have acknowledged that there is no credible evidence on the one hand and on the other still say that fraud may have occurred.
Now to further cloud the waters we have people like Mike Flynn calling for Marshall law and a new election. A new election without evidence simply because they do not like the results. This is not legitimate political dissent, this is a ham fisted attempt at a COUP and disregarding the will of the people.
To make matters worse the nation remains mired in the middle of a global pandemic that presents growing case loads and mortality numbers everyday. We can not afford to minimize these very real threats to our Republic. This attempt at negating our incoming administration will continue unabated for the next 46 days.
Even after Biden is sworn in the attacks threaten to continue by a lawless former President hell bent on bringing down the legitimate government. History demonstrates that when these kinds of strains are placed on the people government without effective mechanisms to check or counter them governments fail. We have a real crisis that must be dealt with.
