It’s ironic how fiction can both mimic and mirror reality. HBO did a treatment of The Plot Against America by Phillip Roth. The story is a work of fiction. It deals with a what if. In this case the what if is what would happen if a known public figure became the stooge of the Nazi regime? What if that stooge managed to get himself elected President? What happens to the undesirable people when a fascist government comes to power?
I watched the six part series and then I read the book. It was chilling. For those of you who think what is happening in America will pass you might want to read or see a bit of fiction. In the last episode perhaps the most chilling scene is the last. People are voting and the ballots are picked up and driven to a field and burned 🔥.
We have a real Plot Against America unfolding in front of our eyes and there are no alarm bells ringing. We have hundredscof pieces of state legislation being written to limit access to the ballot. Instead of using a gun and intimidation to suppress the vote they are using the pen and doing right in front of your eyes 👀. America is stricken with a political cancer that as metastasized and without radical immediate treatment will kill her and the dream of a Republic based on Democratic principle. The story of how our country came together talks about Benjamin Franklin being stopped by a woman and asked what kind of Government the founders had given to the people. Franklin replied that they had given the people a Republic if they could keep it. The message was clear. The stability and longevity of the Republic would depend on the will of the people.
There is a Plot Against America 🇺🇸 and it is in full swing. The inscription on our statue of Liberty “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore” is not applicable to what our people want the nation to be. The genie is out of the bottle and Pandora’s box as been thrown Wide Open. There are forces at work that want a different kind of country and a different kind of government. The want a country based on white domination and supremacy. They want a government that will suppress anything they perceive as a threat to that domination and suppression.
When the power of the minority to say no becomes more powerful than the majorities power to say yes you know that you are in trouble. You saw it play out right in front of your Eyes on Friday when 35 Republican Senators blocked 54 Senators attempt to pass the bill to investigate the attempted insurrection on January 6th. The Plot Against America is well underway. We may have already crossed the point of no return. SOS we like the Titanic are in trouble.
