It’s 4:00 am and I can’t sleep. The perfect storm is upon us and still no one acts. We have become a rudderless ship.
While COVID-19 ravages city after city we are now threatened by a mad man who wants to unleash his own ill formed Gestapo on American cities. This will not turn out well.
Couple these two fiasco’s with a crumbling economy and you have a perfect storm. The US economy is in tatters and apparently know one wants to see it. The aid that was dispersed through the Cares Act went to the wrong people. In the next 90 days the bill we come do. It won’t just impact renters. It will see another crash of the mortgage industry that makes 2008 look like child’s play. Credit card debt is out of control at a time when people are ill equipped to service it. The banks have not helped because rather than adjusting interest rates downward they have succumbed to a culture of greed.
People rejoiced when the automakers went back into production. What’s going to happen when people can’t afford to take on the crushing debt of a new car. The average price of a new vehicle is somewhere north of $30,000 dollars. We’ve watched auto financing be stretched out to 7 and 8 years. This model was never sustainable folks. It was a house of cards just waiting for a strong wind.
The perfect storm is upon us without a real leader at the helm. We have sown the seeds now we will reap the whirlwind. I take no pleasure in being right about what is to come.
Meanwhile the #BunkerbitchakaDJT goes on television to announce that he plans on reconstituting the daily COVID-19 briefings at 5:00 pm daily with him in the lead. Rome burns while the village idiot fiddles.
So I find myself wide awake at 4:00 am trying to make sense of how this could happen.
