THE GOP Must Be Crushed!

I was born in the United States and I’m tired of feeling like I’m stuck in an abusive relationship. I’m not naive enough to say that there aren’t issues with the Democratic party. I am saying that the villain of this story is the GOP which is mired in tribal populism that is home to white Supremacy.

In 1929 when Herbert Hoover was elected President he believed in a federal government model that minimized every aspect of federal involvement. When his Presidency got started there were warning signs that US stability was on shaky ground. Hoover either didn’t pay attention to the signs or largely ignored them. His inability to respond proactively led the US into the great depression.

In 1933 Hoover was defeated by Franklin Roosevelt for the Presidency. Roosevelt came into the Presidency in the midst of the great depression. In the first 100 days in office he issued numerous executive orders which would become the basis of his New Deal. FDR communicated with the people. He delivered approximately 30 fireside chats over the course of his Presidency to explain to the people of this Country why certain things were being done and what the people could expect.

In 1935 he launched what was arguably the foundation program for getting the country back on track. That program was the WPA (Works Progress Administration). The WPA put over 8 million people to work between 1935 and 1943. At it’s peak in 1938 there were 3.3 million people on its payroll. Those people created many new businesses and created untold numbers of other jobs to help pull this country out of the depression. WPA was at the center of almost every major infrastructure project that happened during this period.

Something changed in the country when Nixon became President. The warts began to show both in the country and in the GOP. When Reagan ascended to the Presidency the GOP had changed from a political party into a machine of destruction. Reagan presided over the attack on organized labor by virtue of his posture with the Air Traffic Controllers. He reduced taxes on corporations and the super wealthy. He turned around and for the first time taxed the income of Social Security recipients. Probably his most diabolical move as President was financing the Contra war by flooding black and brown communities with drugs to raise money for his illegal war. What makes this act so insidious was that at the same time that Oliver North was making this nightmare happen Ronald and Nancy Reagan were busy telling the world to say no no to drugs. That is what the grand old party was up to.

Fast forward to present day. The GOP cancer as metastasized and is killing America. The hypocrisy is without end. Lindsey Graham said over the weekend that there is no systemic racism in America.

President Biden as proposed the biggest national infrastructure project since FDR and Eisenhower. When Donald Trump was President he chose to give a trillion dollar tax cut to people who didn’t need it while letting national infrastructure continue to crumble. Now #MitchtheBitch Is saying that the Republicans will not support and infrastructure bill that they do not have the ability to influence and alter. They had four years to do it and they ignored it.

The GOP all but informed the insurrection at the capitol on January 6th. Instead of placing the responsibility where it belongs they blamed the mysterious omnipotent ANTIFA and BLM. Nevermind what people witnessed with their own eyes.

Now there are a bunch of Republican loonies driving a recount of ballots from the 2020 election. It appears that the same loonies have the same plan for Michigan.

That very same GOP is launching voter suppression and anti demonstration legislation in state governments all across the country.

Democrats must understand that the GOP is playing a zero sum game. They want nothing less than complete control. The biggest mistake the Democrats could make would be to allow the GOP to slow 🐌 down its agenda hoping for some degree of non-partisan cooperation. Lest you think that any of this is untrue or an exaggeration I remind you that this is the same crime family that said that a lame duck President did not have the right to appoint a Supreme Court Justice and then turned around and did it.

You don’t try and negotiate with people without honor and integrity. You run over them. I will not be a victim of the party of white Supremacy.
