The game is rigged. The message is designed to convince ordinary people that big business is the engine that drives the nation. The political system of this country was always designed to first and foremost serve the interest of the wealthy. Over time that desire for limited government and a desire to control the message morphed into Citizens United.
The Reagan Presidency demonstrated how controlling the media message could lead to a political process dominated by the influence of money. At the end of the Reagan Presidency the right created a road map for manipulating political outcomes by dominating media coverage. That strategy gave birth to Citizens United in 1988. In the early years Citizens United could be characterized as Franksteins baby. It had potential but before it could truly become a monster it would need care and feeding. That feeding and care came from the soft money 💰that corporations and big donors were allowed to pour into political party coffers.
In 2002 the the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act was inactive to slow down the flow of soft money 💰into political parties and thus channeled to political candidates.
In 2010 in the Supreme Court ruling in the case of Citizens United v. Federal Election Commision gutted the restrictions on the amount that Corporations and Unions could pour into the political process. The decision would turn the adolescent monster into a full grown beast that was positioned to influence the election of candidates for the foreseeable future. The rigging of the system was complete. With enough money you could elect a horses azz to any office in the land as demonstrated by candidates like Donald J. Trump and Majorie Taylor Greene.
In a society where the average citizen doesn’t read or get their information from independent sources broadcast media quickly morphed into the primary information vehicle for the people. The only obstacle to entry into the game had been removed. The growth in fringe media went into overdrive and truth flew out the window. Partisan politics evolved into a blood sport of winner take all. THE GAME IS RIGGED.
The win that big business gets out of this domination of the political system is control of the politicians who want to be reelected. The tax cuts for corporations and the super wealthy were their reward. They suckered the average Joe into supporting these tax cuts by throwing them a bone with an expiration date. No such expiration date for big corporations or the super rich. THE GAME IS RIGGED.
The American Jobs Act should be a no Brainer, except that it’s not. It could change the whole dynamic between the employer and employee. That’s not something that big business is interested in. Name 5, help me out because I couldn’t. They have you exactly where they want you. THE GAME IS RIGGED. Only you can change it. The American Jobs Act must pass.

Bill, you hit the nail on the head once again. Another huge problem we have is what to do about the Supreme Court. The whole idea behind given the SCOTUS so much power and autonomy was that they were supposed to be above being influenced by any individual or political party. The trouble is, that doesn’t mean that they aren’t. That combined with their own misguided philosophies is an explosive that is more deadly than TNT. This is obvious by the fact that one of the reasons the Republicans wanted Trump in office is because in exchange for their support, he could appoint justices that shared their philosophies. So while we press for passage of the American Jobs Act, we must also push for a balance on the SCOTUS before the mid-term elections change the leverage the Dems have in the Senate.
