Yesterday I listened to episode 4 of the Southlake podcast. The title of the episode is “The Circus Comes To Town”. How very, very appropriate.
The episode describes how the controversy in Southlake around a diversity and inclusion proposal morphed into a controversy around the introduction of Critical Race Theory. You may be sitting there asking yourself how that could possibly happen. The answer lies beneath the surface of what we refer to as white privilege and the efforts of people like Christopher Ruffo and #45 to scare the bejesus out of white America.
If you haven’t started to listen to the podcast of the Southlake series I encourage you to do so. Episode 4 made me ill because of some of the tactics deployed to justify the status quo.
There is a strategy at work in the alt-right conservative community. That strategy is to label everything that appears to threaten the legacy of white America with the Critical Race Theory brush. CRT is the new rally cry for the maintenance of white superiority. It has become the rallying cry of those who openly and secretly oppose an inclusive United States. Their idea is simple, there can only be one cultural norm in America 🇺🇸. That cultural norm is white. Anything else is an aberration that must be wiped out at any cost.
The Southlake series will help you understand that we haven’t made a lot of progress in getting to the land where all men and women are created equal.
