I’m directing this post to a very specific demographic. That demographic is young millennial black people who are saying that there’s nothing for them to vote for in this election.
I’m a firm believer in the old adage that the enemy of my enemy is my friend until they’re not. I struggle to understand how any melanated person could belong to or support the Republican party. Before you start with the nonsense that the Republicans are the party of Lincoln lets just cut through the bs. Black people and slavery were pawns in a much bigger game. Lincoln had no love for slaves. His focus was on preserving the union and leveling the field economically.
Beyond those two realities Lincoln died over 155 years ago and we have not seen another liberator. The current POTUS is not a friend. His claim that he’s done more for black people than anyone else except for Lincoln dosen’t resonate with me. Trump likes to site the legislation reducing sentences as reform that served the interest of blacks and there are many people who buy this rhetoric. What Truml did was sign a bill into law. He didn’t draft the bill or have a significant role in crafting it. He just happened to be the guy sitting in the White House when yhe bi hit the Presidents desk. Once again Trump took advantage of someone else’s work with the aid of personalities like Kim K and Kanye.
Trump is an opportunist, he’s spent an entire lifetime taking advantage of other peo ppl le weaknesses.
I’m not saying that the Democratic party is a knight on a white charger coming to the rescue of black people. I am saying choose the dance partner less detrimental to your welfare. Trump has chosen his side. It should be painfully clear that the side he has chosen does not mean well for our people. There is a reckoning coming and we want to make sure that we don’t end up being the fodder of that reckoning. The America we knew prior to Trump is gone. The world before us will be different. We have an opportunity to help shape that difference if we make the smart choice. If we make the wrong choice we get served up like the Christmas goose.
There will be people who can not be persuaded. If you are one of those people remember this. When Trump calls himself the President of law and order what he means is that he’s the guy whose going to finally put Americans non white citizens in their place. He’s going to keep you out of the suburbs, he’s going to increase the power and presence of the police (the slave catcher’s) and he’s gong to codify white supremacy as the law of the land. He’s going to be the knee on your neck. He going to unleash and embrace every crazed Kyle Rittenhouse that America can produce. This picture represents the America they want for you. The choice is yours.
