I acknowledge your right to be thankful for the Chauvin conviction. I get it you need something to keep you going. I don’t need anything to keep me going because I understand the game. Chauvin changes nothing, NOTHING.
Chauvin is nothing more than a pimple on an π elephants azz. For 400 years people not subhuman but people have been systemically oppressed. It isn’t stopping. In fact the perpetrators of this oppression are doubling down. State by state need legislation implementing voter suppression is being proposed while the federal government and the Supreme Court do nothing. When it’s easier to buy and own a gun than it is to vote you know you have a problem.
This is not the time to relax. This is the time to say loudly and clearly that enough is enough. No more false starts. No more it takes time. How much time does it take to treat fellow human beings fairly. In 1954 when Thurgood Marshall won Brown v. Board of Education the Supreme Court held that school districts should proceed with all deliberate haste. Look up the definition of deliberate used as a verb. It will open your eyes π. Instead of making education equal that decision gave its opponents time to find even more creative ways to institutionalize educational inequality. Don’t tell me about social change going slowly. No other group of people would still be waiting after 400 years.

Bill thank you for your insightful commentaries. At times you may feel like John the Baptist, “a voice crying in the wilderness.” In other words, like nobody’s listening, but as one of my two favorite orators, Winston Churchill (Dr. King being the other), once said, “Never give up, never surrender.” People need to hear the truth even though there may be a delay in their listening.
