If it feels like this Summer is a little bit different its not your imagination. It’s hotter all over the world. Its likely that for those living now that this new heat will become our new normal.

The weather is changing and the change is not for the better. The Dixie wildfire in Northern California is the largest single fire recorded in California history. Exacerbating the Dixie fire is a historical drought in California. Climate change is a real thing and all of us are feeling it. The people in Louisiana are feeling it. Our elderly people are feeling it. It’s the new norm.

Unless you are a climatologist or you really have gotten into learning and understanding climate change you may never have heard about I.P.C.C. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change was formed in 1988. In a nutshell its purpose was to bring together climate intelligence from all over the planet. I.P.C.C. has issued a report on global climate every five or six years since 1990. The most recent report was issued within the last few weeks. The report itself is more than 4000 pages that are guaranteed to put the average person to sleep. There is a summary that is roughly fourth pages long that will frighten the bejesus out of most readers.

Our children and their children are in for a bumpy ride. Mother nature is preparing to take her revenge. A global water shortage is coming and the planet will begin to see its impact before the end of the decade. Those of us living in the Great Lakes basin will not feel it as severely as others but we will see the consequences of it.

At this stage in the game we need to take extraordinary steps to try and slow things down. We knew that this was coming and refused to acknowledge the seriousness of it. The chicken have come home to roost. If we don’t take steps now we could well run out of time. The clock is ticking.

  1. Yes Bill Water will be the new gold/oil. In 2003 I submitted an idea to DWSD’s Corporate 🤡about bottling our own water, creating Jobs making DWSD competitive with Nestle and all selling it to Kroger’s hell even Walmart maybe even keeping the cost balanced After all Water and Sewerage bragged that we had the best Water World wide. Sadly Director McCormick was more worried about her next move and Garry Brown being brought in and it ended up in the Executive toilet. The Water Company was stolen. It belonged to Detroiters. Who creates deals to give away a Detroit asset which services all of Michigan bar none and generates crazy money? 💩
