Right now there’s a feature playing on Netflix called the Great Hack. It reveals how Cambridge Analytica after influencing hundreds of elections around the world deployed its capabilities against the US in the election of 2016. Cambridge was later investigated and forced to dismantle. But that wasn’t the end of human manipulation. The technology survived and is still being deployed by non other than your favorite social media platform. Data was monetized and once it was done there was no closing Pandora’s box.

One of the biggest beneficiaries of Cambridges work was the Trump campaign. That work is still being used to manipulate the American voting public.

Maybe I’m too suspicious. Maybe my antenna are aroused too easily but something doesn’t pass the smell test.

Trump just had the worse 10 days of his political life. Nothing he did appeared capable of stopping the landslide of bad press. Then Thursday night COVID-19 strikes the President. Biden stops his attack ads. Trump decides to remain in the Whitehouse rather than seek hospitalization. Miraculously after Wall Street closes for the day DJT decides to seek treatment at Walter Reed. Before he leaves he makes a 19 second video dressed in a suit and tie to be played for the public. He walks to the chopper on his own. As of yet there has not been a significant medical briefing to specifically detail the condition of the President of the United States.

Trump is not like a normal person. I have said time and time again that for Trump there are no boundaries. Trump is a scorched earth kind of guy. It’s all or nothing so forgive me for being skeptical. Limits and the concepts of right and wrong don’t have a place in Trumps world.

We aren’t talking about his tax records, we aren’t talking about his debate performance, we aren’t talking about his rallying cry to the Proud Boys and othe alt-right terror groups. We’re being sucked into the vortex of empathy for the guy who created the mess.

Power has not been transferred. He continues to be in control. I’m a believer in the maxim that says fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. So forgive my healthy skepticism. We’re 30 days away from what could very well prove to be our very own Armageddon. All is far in love and war.
