The middle passage/slavery, look away.
The promise of the Civil rights act of 1866 and then the breaking of that promise. Look away.
The promise of Reconstruction broken but look away.
The black codes, just look away.
Seperate and unequal, just look away.
Red Summer of 1919, just look away.
Greenwood Oklahoma, just look away.
1964 Civil Rights act, just a another promise unkept. Just look away
1965 Voting Rights Act another promise unkept. Just look away.
Communities being decimated by inferior education. Just look away.
The murder of another black man at the hands of the police. His crime, he was large and intimidating. I will not look away. I am weary of the promises unkept. If there is no justice for my people there can be no justice for anyone.
