Who Would Have Thought??
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king’s horses and all the king’s men
Couldn’t put Humpty together again.
That a children’s nursery rhyme would be the story of America post January 6th 2021. Today marks the beginning of the third day of impeachment hearings. The king’s men and women have done a brilliant job of attempting to show how the treachery of their fellow Americans at the direction of one man caused Humpty to fall. They have tried valiantly to put Humpty back together. They have pain staking shown what precipitated the fall to know avail.
America was always fragile. Balanced on a knifes edge, dependent on the morality and good will of men. Watching the behavior in that Senate chamber it’s painfully clear that there is no morality or goodwill. Only the avarice of self serving men.
When the sham of a verdict is delivered the deed will be done. The dream of America will be dead. We will have taken the final step ushering ina new dystopian reality of the nation we live in.
If we could fall this far in just 4 years what will we look like by 2025 when the world is facing a global shortage of fresh water. How will we respond to crop failures cause by environmental change. The worst is ahead of us and we are sinking rather than rising. All of this is rooted in a stubborn need to hang on to a legacy of racial superiority.
Humpty Dumpty is the original American tragedy.
