How Not To Save A Country
The sentence handed down to Steve Bannon makes a travesty of the process. Bannon was found guilty. He refused to cooperate with the January 6th Committee. He refused to disclose any financial information in his pre-sentencing report. He thumbed his nose at the system and he gets rewarded for it.
The DOJ had asked for a sentence of 6 months confinement and a $250,000 fine. The sentencing judge gave him just 4 months with a six dollar fine. The judge agreed to delay the imposition of sentence pending appeal. Bannon won and justice got kicked in the –z.
Bannon played a significant role in the January 6th insurrection. We’re not talking about jaywalking or shop lifting, we’re talking about an attempt to overthrow the government. We’re talking about one of the greatest threats to this republic since it was formed. Bannon and his fellow conspirators are laughing. They know what’s coming and they’re laughing. There is nothing to stop them. When the law breaks down anarchy follows.
