I’ve spent the last twelve hours trying to figure out what happened yesterday means to me. I’m not disappointed, I’m resigned. I’m resigned that we have some very difficult days in front of us. I don’t know what it will take for America to find its way into the light, I do know that it will be a painful journey.

From the very beginning of the idea of America as a nation the founders struggled with the idea of a new nation with political parties. Adam’s and Jefferson were both part of forming the new nation. They had both a complicated political and personal relationship. Adam’s saw the Presidency as bordering on royalty while Jefferson saw it as the peoples representative. While they remained close to one another for a lifetime that had dramatically different visions of what America was to become.

The end of the trial in the Senate demonstrates that the harm that party affiliations can reap on the Republic are real and continue to pose an ongoing threat to this experiment that we call the United States

43 Men and women demonstrated that their allegiance is to the party above the nation. Precepts that were the cornerstone of the American system died yesterday. In a proceeding that was neither criminal nor civil we heard a lot about Due Process and Freedom of Speech. The irony wasn’t lost on me. A couple of nights ago I watched the film “Judas and The Black Massiah”. It was a film so it took liberties with the story. When Fred Hampton was killed in December of 1969 he was 21 years old. He was murdered/assassinated you chose the word because the powers that be so him as an existential threat to their vision of America. There was no argument about Due Process or Freedom of Speech. He threatened the status quo and he had to be eliminated.

The hypocrisy was real then and remains so now. Donald John Trump was a privileged old white man and Fred Hampton was a blackman who had barely begun to live. Hamptons life was snuffed out because he dared to challenge the lie that was and remains America. There was no Due Process or Free Speech for him.

Yesterday that part of this nations foundation that proclaims that all men are equal in the eyes of the law and that no man is above the law died an ignominious death. It won’t be recesitated. Pandora’s box was opened. The ugliness of a two tiered legal system as been exposed. What remains to be seen is how quickly will the nation be plagued with the aftermath of this failure. The reckoning is coming. We have sown the seeds and the whirlwind is coming. Damn the 43 men and women who put party above the nation.

THINK!!
EYES WIDE 👀 OPEN!!!
