Only in politics can you refuse to do your job and expect to keep your job. Make no mistake the refusal of the Republicans to participate in raising the debt ceiling is dangerously irresponsible.
Assuming that they fail to raise the debt ceiling in a timely manner the ramifications will be both domestic and international. Ordinary working people who depend on 401K accounts to fund their retirement could see the value of these accounts plumet with devastating results.
