EXTERMINATE ALL THE BRUTES
Tonight my senses were jolted by the visualization of a painful truth. HBO Max is running a documentary 4 part series called “Exterminate All The Brutes”. The documentary is based on a book written by Sven Lindqvist.
I’m still feeling sensory overload. Not because I didn’t already know some of these things. My overload stems from the way the story came together.
We’ve all heard the words EXTERMINATE and BRUTE before. Tonight they took on a more painful meaning. EXTERMINATION meant total annihilation of the none chosen people. The BRUTE in the story was me and people who looked different from the self appointed choosen people.
In the time of the Chauvin trial and other such travesties EXTERMINATION of the BRUTE takes on a more jarring meaning. George Floyd is dead because America wants the EXTERMINATION of men that they define as big black ⬛ BRUTES. I am one of Americas targets. My Latinx brothers and sisters are defined as BRUTES. My Native American brothers and sisters are defined as BRUTES. My Asiatic brothers and sisters are defined as BRUTES. There’s a common theme running through this story, do you see it?
This is the story of racial supremacy run amok. I’ve finished watching the first two episodes and I’m filled with rage and sadness. Is there any possibility for an outcome that does not require an EXTERMINATION??
