Joy was just interviewing Eric Holder. In the course of the interview she asked Holder if it were his belief that Trump should be prosecuted if he was found to have played a part in the events of January 6th. Attorney General Holder said that there are special considerations when confronted with the criminal behavior of a President. Holder is not the first person I have heard say something like this. The very idea that there would be any question concerns me.

When I studied Constitutional law I don’t recall there being any exception for Presidential criminality. If we say that no man is above the law but create an exemption for a Rouge President how can we expect anyone to obey the law?

After the Civil War ended Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee and the other confederate leaders were allowed to go free. As a result the Confederact never really died it just retreated underground.

One of the most important lessons I learned from my father while growing up is the all behavior must have a consequence. Where there are no consequences the abhorrent behavior is not curtailed. It waits patiently for its next opportunity to reappear.

Today is August 13th. The day when Trump was supposed to be reinstated. This day is going to come and go without that happening. There are going to be a lot of people who will wake up tomorrow feeling even more aggrieved because they believed the lie.

Meanwhile the country just became a more dangerous place. We are going to see acts of violence being perpetrated in the name of gorilla action for the Trumpian hoards. Now is not the time to deal with these people leniently.

There are brush fires burning all around us and we continue to have leadership that refuses to acknowledge how serious the threat really is.
