Equal justice under the law is rooted in the 14th amendment of the Constitution. It should be sacrosanct but it isn’t.

Last Friday we witnessed in stark terms that American jurisprudence is rooted in a bias that bows to wealth, privilege, and race. #BunkerbitchakaDJT commuted the sentence of Roger Stone. This was after the US justice Department moved to dismiss the complaint against Flynn after he pleaded guilty. These events were not anomalies they were reality.

In 1999 Amodou Diallo was shot at 41 times by plainclothes New York policemen. He was struck 19 times. When he was shot he was standing unarmed in the doorway of his own home.

The four officers responsible for his death were indicted by a grand jury on charges of second degree murder. The four officers were granted a change of venue and the trial was moved to Albany versus NYC based on the premise that the officers couldn’t get a fair trial in NYC. They were acquitted. That was the justice for Amodou Diallo.

In 2006 Sean Bell and two friends were leaving his bachelor party in early morning hours. 50 shots were fired based on the police assertion that they thought someone was going for a gun. Bell was killed in the shooting. The officers were charged, tried, and found not guilty. That was the justice Sean Bell received.

Laquan McDonald 16 shots his killer got less than eight years.

I could go on but it wouldn’t change a thing. The point is that you can’t expect people to respect law and order when they see that the law is not for them.

What Trump did isn’t just despicable, it’s dangerous. Our young people see this and say why should I respect the law??
