Yesterday #BunkerBitchakaDJT with the usual attention seeking fanfare announced the formation of the 1776 Commision. The stated purpose of the 1776 commission is to promote patriotic education. Allow me to break that down for you. What it means is let’s continue the narrative that the nation was built by the white man alone. It’s fake news. It’s in direct response to the 1619 project which attempts to provide a framework for the role slavery and African labor played in the formation of the nation. No one is arguing that 1776 was not when the colonist sought their freedom. The 1619 project merely chronicles when slavery emerged in the American lexicon.

Slavery was a foundational block of America. Without this country would never have prospered. In forming the 1776 commission Trump is seeking to codify a history of lies that do not acknowledge the role that slavery or Africans played in the formation and history of thus nation. It seeks to white wash the heinous acts of the founders and their ancestors.

The very capitol of this nation is a monument to slave and free black labor. There is virtually no building in the capitol built prior to 1865 that was not built with the labor of enslaved blacks.

Here’s the thing the history of this nation has always tried to hide its ugly parts. Concealing our not so perfect past has created a rift in our people that has gone on for far too long. Until we deal with it and confront how it has divided us we cannot heal the still open and festering wounds.

Asking Americas black, brown, indigenous, and yellow people to trust the system and to give it more time falls on deaf ears. There is no more time.

Last night I had trouble sleeping. I started channel surfing looking for something to put me to sleep. I stopped surfing when I came to 16 Shots. I’ve watched it at least 4 other times but I watched it again last night. If you’re not familiar with the story it recounts the circumstances around the police shooting of Laquan McDonald in October of 2014. Laquan was shot 16 times by a single officer of the Chicago Police Department. There were multiple other officers on the scene, none of them fired a single shot.

The initial story was that Laquan had been armed with a knife and had lunged at the officer. The officer allegedly in fear for his life then opened fire striking McDonald 16 times. Initially the shooting was ruled as a justified. That would have been the end of the story but for the inquiring mind of a reporter who looked into the story. The reporter was able to locate eye witnesses to the event. Their accounts contradicted the police statements. The attorneys for the family subpoenaed the police videos from that night and the autopsies reports. The city of Chicago resisted providing this information until Rahm Emmanuel reelection was completed.

Once the election was over the proverbial shit hit the fan. The autopsy report indicated that a number of the 16 shots to McDonald had been to the back and while he was on the ground. The video showed that the officer began firing at Laquqn McDonald withing 7 seconds of exiting his vehicle. Now count to 16. How many of those 16 shots was Laquan still alive for? The police dash am video was horrific. It showed McDonald moving away from the officers before the shooting started. It showed shots hitting him after he was on the ground. It showed that at no time did he ever make an effort to get up off the ground.

This was a conspiracy. The conspiracy involved the officers on the scene, the Superintendent of police, the Prosecutor, and The Mayor. There are a couple of things that should be pointed out. By his own admission the police Superintendent saw the video within 24 hours. He said he saw nothing in it that would make him question the officers statement. This statement validates something I have said numerous times about senior police leadership. They are never going to willingly acknowledge that there is a problem in their department because it reflects on them. Police reform can only be successful when managed from the outside.

Ultimately the Superintendent was forced to resign. The prosecutor lost her bid for reelection. The officer responsible for the murder of Laquan McDonald received a sentence of less than eight years. Rahm Emmanuel served his second full term.

I told you that story because it shows what happens to a person’s story when someone else is censoring it. The story of none white people in this country has always been suppressed for the convenience of the white majority. The people aren’t going to tolerate it any more. We aren’t buying #BunkerBitchakaDJT’s 1776 commission. The truth will be told.
