Daunte Wright was just 20 years old. I remember what it was like being 20 years old. I could have made a lot of mistakes but I had a father and the military had me. Those two things kept the stupid gene that all twenty year olds have in check.
Most of the time there’s a better than average chance that with a little luck and the benefit of some guidance that we’ll out grow the stupid gene. Duante Wright won’t get to do that. His young life is over before he got a chance to be something. I’m writing this because I’m sickened by the comments attempting to blame him for his own death. Earlier today someone posted a video of a young white guy involved in a traffic stop. He apparently had a gun in the vehicle compartment in plain site.
The officers asked him to get out of the vehicle and he refused. One of the officers actually put his weapon away after the young man had physically resisted being removed from the vehicle. At one point he even threatened to shoot them. They allowed him to close his vehicle door, start the vehicle up and drive off. Not a shot was fired not a laser was deployed.
The difference between Daunte and this guy was that Duante only had one white parent. Under the one drop rule he got judged like a black man. He died and the white guy with the gun drove away. Keep telling yourself that black men get hurt because they fail to follow directions and they suffer from bad attitudes. Good for you if that let’s you sleep at night.
In the words of Reverend Jerimiah Wright, God damb America!

Bill, this is exactly why people who have one white and one black parent are fooling themselves if they think they can get away with calling themselves “mixed,” that it will somehow get them some kind of special status among whites. Being mixed to a white cop still means you are black, and you don’t get a pass because one of your parents is white. They only care that one of them is black.
