I’ve been thinking about this all day. I was born and raised in Detroit. I was a teenager in 1967 when the riot broke out. I lived only a few blocks from the epicenter. I know something about Detroit.
I know that Mike Duggan and James Craig just made the biggest mistake of their lives. Clearly only they know what the discussion was between them and the administration of #BunkerBitchakaDJT was and what the agreement covered. Reports say that the Trump Gestapo will help with homicides and violent crimes.
Here’s what I know. #BunkerBitchakaDJT and #BillBarrthefixer are liars. They can’t be trusted. I understand political expediency and I know that politics makes strange bedfellows. Mike Duggan isn’t a Democrat. I fully understand that DPD has a manpower issue. To comprehend how serious it it look at the headcount numbers for every decade since 1970. Sit outside any precinct in Detroit at change of shift to see how many patrol units are actually available to respond to radio calls.
I understand what they think their doing by letting #BunkerBitchakaDJT deploy his Gestapo. I’m sure they believe that they fully believe that this will provide them with a scapegoat. If homicides and violent crimes don’t go don’t they can shift some of the blame to the feds. Clearly they don’t understand who and what they are dealing with. Trump doesn’t understand or respect boundaries. They opened the door to him and he fully plans to exploit it.
Two things you never do. Dance with the devil or strike bargains with the devil. THE DEVIL IS A LIAR.
If Mike Duggan wants to start to really address Detroits crime problem step number one is to stop giving away the cities tax base. If you added up all of the tax breaks that the city has doled out over the last 7 years you would have enough many to significantly attack Detroits police manpower.
