People get angry with me because I challenge Joe Biden and the Democratic party to deliver on their promise. Instead of getting angry with me and making excuses regarding why Biden and the Democrats can’t or won’t deliver. I’ve never held political office but I’ve learned somethings about politics. Election cycle after election cycle ordinary citizens listen to people seeking office making Grandiose promises. They convince the people that they are going to be the great savior who will actually do what they said. Then they get elected.

A trillion dollars for hard infrastructure is symbolic not transformative. I was a candidate for Governor of Michigan in 2018. I spent several hundred thousand dollars prior to joining the race commissioning a study of what Michigan needed to do to improve living conditions for our citizens. Infrastructure and public K-12 education were at the top of the list. Addressing these issues was going to be critical to Michigan’s future. I developed a plan that detailed what we were going to do, how we were going to do it and the time frame for getting it done. Joe Biden has by in politics for more than half his life. He knows the system that he helped build. He knows that when Mitch McConnell says that he intends to do everything in his power to frustrate Biden agenda he means it. Ten months in Biden is still not convinced that the filibuster must go.

When I tell you that a trillion dollars for hard infrastructure is symbolic rather than transformative its not hyperbole. In the study I did regarding Michigan’s infrastructure needs it detailed that for Michigan to address infrastructure needs it would have to spend at least 6 billion dollars a year over the next ten years to make up for what hadn’t been done for the last 50 years. That means that Michigan needs to spend sixty billion dollars over ten years to have livable infrastructure. Michigan isn’t unique. If you multiply 60 billion dollars by 50 states hard infrastructure needs would be approximately 3 trillion dollars over 10 years. 1 trillion dollars over 10 years is a bandaid not a fix. A trillion dollars is symbolic. Remember based on current rates of Defense spending we’ll spend close to 4 trillion dollars over the next 5 years. What’s more important, keeping the military industrial complex lobbyist happy or addressing real needs of the people.

Build Back Better is a cute phrase but it doesn’t mean anything if we aren’t willing to do something different. There has to be a fundamental willingness to break some glass. It’s no secret that Biden wasn’t my first choice. I was willing to get behind him to get some things done. Unfortunately it’s not getting done. Bidens desire to be a centrist is his Achilles Hill. We need radical change.

Next week Virginia’s go to the polls to elect a Governor. The race is as tight as a violin 🎻 string. Biden got elected because black voters overwhelming supported him. They were expecting him to deliver for them. Instead voting rights legislation appears to be dead on arrival. What happens in Virginia if black voters stay at home? This lackadaisical approach to key legislative initiatives will come with sure and certain repercussions. You can’t keep fooling people with the same old playbook. The ball is in Joe Biden and Democrats court.
