We’re just days from the 20th remembrance of the 9/11 attack. Every year I find myself thinking about what happened that day and remembering the United States reaction. Wanting to identify and get even with an enemy is a very visceral response, I understand that. Getting even should have given way to some national introspection. It didn’t.
Every year I look for some glimmer of introspection and I can’t identify any. This is twenty years later and we haven’t made any progress. At no point in time do I ever recall an American leader say its time for us to take a look at who we are. For the first time in American history we have experienced a coordinated attack on American soil and know one is asking why or how this could have been avoided. Make no mistake we made ourselves a target and then acted like being attacked came as a complete surprise.
The laws of physics tell us that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. 9/11 was the equal and opposite reaction for how we had conducted middle eastern policy. Not expecting a reaction was arrogant and foolish. You would think that by now we would have realized that but if we have you wouldn’t know it based on behavior.
We stayed in Afghanistan for twenty years. DJT agreed to remove all of our military assets by a date certain. That agreement was entered into in the early days of 2020. For the remainder of his Presidency absolutely nothing was done to start the evacuation of American personnel and assets. Nothing. If you wanted to make sure to cause a cluster —- you couldn’t have planned it better. Bidens mistake was in believing that three additional months would be enough. To much belief in everything going according to plan.
The most frightening part about Afghanistan is that we may very well have laid the groundwork for the next foreign on US soil. When Trump entered into negotiations with the Taliban with no Afghan leadership participation he betrayed the afghan people. What goodwill we may have built up over 20 years was obliterated in a single stupid act. There is nothing more dangerous than an ally you have betrayed. We may have played an active role in creating the next generation of rabid terrorist. We haven’t learned. Heaven knows that I don’t want to be right about this, however I think that we should expect repercussions.
I’m not afraid of fighting, I just think its prudent to know what you are fighting for. I haven’t had one person satisfactorily explain what 20 years in Afghanistan was all about. We haven’t learned.
Think!!

Hello Bill, did you miss the word “no” where I’ve placed it?
“…Taliban with NO Afghan leadership participation he betrayed the afghan…”
Thanks for the catch.
Bill War is an ugly mostly sickening aspect of the Human experience sought by Politricksters who have no skin in the game except rhetoric. America needs to get off this World Police crap 💩 and Govern it’s own shores against homemade Terrorist. When the objective was met we should’ve been out of there but no the Corporation wanted to make a buck or two on it at the cost of lives by continuing to occupy regions that have been at War since Christ walked the earth. According to World News the U.S. knew an attack was coming but cared more about the outcome than preventing it. People vote 🗳 for personality rather than qualifications (what we live with here in Detroit by the busters elected to steal from our City Government.) Veting qualifications are just out of the question it seems. Trump catered to one group of dummies while Biden another group of dummies who still don’t understand that they’ve been played like a broken Corporate accordion 🪗. It makes on wonder whether taking Civics and Political Science out of Grade Schools was a badddd idea.
